How Kunch handles your data

1What we collect

When you use Kunch, we collect the following categories of information:

• Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo. Collected when you sign in via Google OAuth or email OTP.
• Baker information — bakery name, baking experience, FSSAI licence number (optional), phone number, and profile photo. Collected during baker onboarding.
• Location data — your approximate or precise location (latitude/longitude) used to sort nearby bakers. Stored locally on your device and, for bakers, in our database to make their listings discoverable.
• Product listings — titles, descriptions, prices, category, and photos that bakers upload. Stored in our database and shown to all visitors.
• Reviews and ratings — star ratings and optional written reviews posted by customers against specific items.
• Usage data — page views, item views, and search queries stored locally in your browser to power personalised recommendations. Not sent to our servers.
• Device information — browser type, operating system, and IP address collected automatically for security and analytics purposes.

2How we use your data

We use the data we collect strictly to operate and improve Kunch:

• To create and authenticate your account securely.
• To display baker profiles, item listings, and reviews to all visitors.
• To sort listings by distance from your location.
• To show your contact number to customers interested in your items (bakers only).
• To detect and remove spam, fake listings, and abusive content.
• To send you transactional emails — account verification and OTP codes only. No marketing email without your explicit consent.
• To analyse aggregate platform usage and improve our features.

3What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal data to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.
• We do not run targeted advertising based on your behaviour.
• We do not track you across other websites or apps.
• We do not store payment card details — we process no payments at all.
• We do not share your private information with other users except what you explicitly make public (e.g. your baker profile and phone number).

4Location data

For customers: your location (entered as a pincode or via GPS) is stored only in your browser's localStorage. It is not sent to our servers. It is used solely to sort bakers by distance on your screen.

For bakers: your bakery's approximate location (latitude and longitude) is stored in our database. It is used to make your listings appear in searches and distance calculations for customers near you. Your full precise address is never displayed publicly — only the suburb or neighbourhood level is shown.

5Third-party services

Kunch uses a small number of carefully selected third-party services:

• Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider. User data is stored on Supabase servers in accordance with their data processing agreement. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified.
• ImgBB — profile photos and product images are uploaded to ImgBB's CDN. Images are publicly accessible via their CDN URLs once uploaded. Do not upload images you do not have rights to.
• Google OAuth — used for sign-in only. We receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or any other Google data.
• Nominatim / OpenStreetMap — used for free, open-source geocoding (pincode to coordinates and coordinates to suburb name). Your IP address is sent to Nominatim servers with each geocoding request.

6Cookies and local storage

Kunch uses browser localStorage — not tracking cookies — to store:

• Kunch_location — your last known location (lat/lng, suburb name). Stays on your device.
• Kunch_prefs — your browsing preferences (categories viewed, searches made) used only to improve local recommendations. Never sent to our servers.

Supabase sets an auth session cookie to keep you logged in across page loads. This is a first-party functional cookie — not a tracking cookie.

7Data retention

• Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
• Baker listings and reviews are retained until manually deleted by the user or removed by our moderation team.
• Item view logs are automatically deleted after 90 days.
• When you delete your account, all associated data — profile, reviews, listings (if baker) — is permanently deleted via CASCADE constraints in our database within 72 hours.

8Your rights

As a user of Kunch you have the following rights over your data:

• Access — you can view all data we hold about you in your profile page.
• Correction — you can update your name, avatar, and location directly from the profile page at any time.
• Deletion — you can delete your account and all associated data by contacting us at privacy@Kunch.in. We process deletion requests within 72 hours.
• Portability — contact us to receive a copy of your data in JSON format.
• Objection — you can object to specific uses of your data by contacting us.

9Children

Kunch is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

10Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Kunch after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
